all the other beasts

inhabit the beauty that lives in your beastly body and strive to see the beauty in all the other beasts.
cheryl strayed

outlaw star

it's not as easy as looking at the moon.
this star has been hidden for a long time
walking galaxies and wandering worlds
without somewhere
to rest his head.

he draws lines in the sand
puts his feet up by the fire
and stares up at the sky
wondering when
he gets to go home.

see, the solar system’s not so kind
to stars that have left their skins behind
seeking out new places
to disappear.
they let them burn out in bright blue fire
rainbow gazes
star-struck beams of extraterrestrial light
a thousand eyes of the universe
staring them down.

when i find him, he’s right at the corner
of orion and the pleiades
caught in the hunter’s eye
and never to be seen again.
