all the other beasts

inhabit the beauty that lives in your beastly body and strive to see the beauty in all the other beasts.

circle around the stars

let's circle around the stars for awhile
saturn hasn’t seen through the smoke
so we pack up the beat-up toyota truck
throw our sleeping bags in the back
and drive off the edge of the bridge to nowhere
wave goodbye to the mountain goats
and sleep until we press through the clouds.
we watch sunrise over a space station
warm and reaching out
the morning of the universe
we take pictures and try to keep our eyes open
we hold hands and bump our feet together
we fall asleep on each others’ shoulders and take turns at the wheel
until we reach the edge of the galaxy.
now when the moon rises i remember you
sprawled on a picnic blanket near the iceberg rings
when we went swimming in between
floating debris and icy cliffs
leaping from one to the next
and slipping as we land.
